30 Things to Remember When Building Your Website

  1. The first impression many people have of your church is your website.
  2. The church with the best website may well be the winner!
  3. Always get a contract.
  4. Keep control of your domain name.
  5. Don’t use a “free” hosting service.
  6. Know what software your designer is using.
  7. Be sure your designer knows something about web design!
  8. Always get a contract! (This is so important it bears repeating!)
  9. Always obtain photo releases.
  10. Always obey copyright laws.
  11. Include basic information on every page. (Name, address, contact information, etc.)
  12. Be sure your navigation menus are consistent and easy to use.
  13. Make your design consistent with the atmosphere of your church.
  14. Your design should reflect the dignity of your church and your God.
  15. Keep the same general look and design throughout the site.
  16. Keep your pages short!
  17. Write your own content. (And, take your own pictures!)
  18. Portray your church as it really is.
  19. Lay out your information so that it is in small bite sizes.
  20. Use lots of pictures.
  21. Designate a Web Secretary and, if possible, a Web Committee.
  22. Keep your site up-to-date!
  23. Constantly change your information.
  24. Make your site an “out-reach” tool. It should be so exciting and attractive that people will want to come and see what you are all about.
  25. Include maps, travel directions, local weather, motel information and restaurant information.
  26. Include upcoming activities, short descriptions of your doctrine and beliefs, pictures of the pastor and staff, and links to general and district sites.
  27. Make your site and “in-reach” tool. It should be “the place to be” for everyone in your congregation.
  28. Include a church calendar, pages for each ministry group, photos of group leaders and event schedules.
  29. Set one page of your site as a default browser page.
  30. Think “Out of the Box”! Think “Globally”!

Emergency Cancellation Module

If you have ever cancelled a service at the last minute due to bad weather, you know how hard it is to contact everyone. Our new Cancellation Module will allow you to cancel a service from your computer or any other device that can log onto the Internet. (Such as your phone.)  This is ideal in case of a power outage.  A cancellation notice will appear at the very top of your Home Page where it is visible to your visitors.  Just be sure to announce to your congregation that they should check the site if there is any doubt about service cancellation.

New Platform for Website Clients

Many amazing churches have been with Nazarene Pages for several years.  WOW!  How time flies!  You have worked hard and sent all of your website content to us via email.  Current clients may still do this if they wish but, we are now offering a new package that allows you to update your own site, whenever you want to.....no waiting on us or trying to get emails posted in time for the next update schedule.  And, you can have one or several editors.  Ideally, you would have an editor for each area of your site.  For instance, a Sunday School Editor, a Mission's Editor, an Events Editor, etc.  Of course, one editor can be responsible for all of the content if that is convenient for you.  So, take the time and check out our new package.  It consists of a basic site that is the same for everyone, then, you choose the modules you would like to add to this site.  Kind of like a cafeteria!  Choose what works best for your church!  If you decide to keep your current package but would like some of the new modules, let us know, and we can add them to your package for the listed price of that particular module.  Please, if you have any questions, feel free to email us.  We will get back to you as soon as possible.
